In a dialogue between photography and craftsmanship, Sarah Sense, a major figure in the contemporary scene, presents ‘Land, Line, Blood, Memory’ at Bruce Silverstein Gallery. This exhibition marks her third solo retrospective, testifying to an artistic journey of over twenty years where she explores the deep connections between landscape, cultural heritage, and collective memory. The Chitimacha/Choctaw artist creates complex “photo-weavings,” weaving together contemporary photographs with organic materials – wood, fibers, pigments – to evoke the power of the earth and the stories it carries. The exhibition highlights her innovative approach, combining traditional and experimental techniques. A poignant work that invites reflection on identity, time, and the relationship between humans and their environment. Free admission.
