The Long Light

In 2026, Eric Uhlir, born in 1979 and trained at the University of Texas at Austin, will exhibit ‘The Long Light’ at Winston Wächter Fine Art. Inspired by the works of Dutch masters and Abstract Expressionism, Uhlir explores the mark of time on places and the people who have inhabited them. This new series, a result of his work in his studio in Los Angeles, uses techniques of repeated layers of paint, scraping, and solvents to create complex images blending figures, interiors, and landscapes. The artist, whose work examines the impact of the Anthropocene on historical art, presents an introspective and emotional piece. ‘The Long Light’ is his second solo exhibition with the gallery, testifying to a significant artistic evolution.
