Leo Castañeda: Camoflux Recall Grotto

Leo Castañeda challenges the codes of digital creation with a video game work commissioned specifically for the 2026 Whitney Biennial. This online project invites users to shape a garden within a primordial landscape, fusing the lush ecosystems of the Brazilian Amazon and the Everglades of Florida. The artist draws on the influence of major figures in Colombian art, such as Maria Thereza Negreiros and Alfonso Quijano, to transform the screen into a space for ecological meditation. From March 4, 2026 to March 3, 2027, this interactive experience questions our connection to life and biodiversity through a striking organic aesthetic. It’s a unique opportunity to see how video games are establishing themselves as a new language for contemporary art, accessible worldwide for a year.
