NO!art: Downtown Rebellion - Westwood Gallery
Boris Lurie, Sam Goodman, and Stanley Fisher orchestrated one of the most radical challenges in the history of New York art. Starting in the 1960s, these rebels opposed a categorical refusal of the traditional art market and its superficial pursuit of beauty. The Westwood Gallery now gathers twenty-three historical pieces—paintings, sculptures, and assemblages—that break taboos by mixing filth, images of the Holocaust, and visual provocations. This uncompromising movement sought to shake people’s consciences in order to better denounce social injustices. It is a raw testimony of an era where art served as a political weapon. These works, which retain all their rebellious power sixty years after their creation, will be presented from March 1st to May 9th, 2026.
