Auguste Bartholdi. Liberty Illuminating the World

Auguste Bartholdi designed the world’s most famous monument, transforming a technical feat into a universal symbol. The Musée d’Orsay dedicates an extensive tribute to this visionary sculptor of the 19th century. Beyond models and preparatory sketches, the event offers a virtual reality experience that transports visitors to the heart of the colossal construction site of his greatest work. It captures the scale of the workshops, the ingenuity of the metal structure, and the political ambition of this monumental gift intended for America. From September 15, 2026, to January 31, 2027, the route retraces the rise of this genius of gigantism who was able to give a face to the democratic ideal. A must-see event to grasp the behind-the-scenes of a masterpiece that still dominates the New York skyline.
