For over a decade, Charles Fréger has explored silences and folk tales through striking photographic series. This exhibition, presented by Galerie Les filles du calvaire, highlights his unique approach to the silhouette, capturing the essence of mythological and narrative figures from Europe. Fréger draws inspiration from ancient works such as Japanese prints or medieval illustrations to create minimalist, powerful, and poetic compositions. The exhibition presents a selection of works from his iconic series – Bretonnes, Les Normandes, L’Épopée de Jeanne d’Arc – thus revealing the richness of his visual universe. The artist uses black and white to accentuate forms and create a dramatic effect, inviting the viewer to reflect on history, culture, and collective memory. An exhibition dedicated to the art of the silhouette and its ability to transcend eras.
