In the 1940s and 50s, Denise Colomb captured the essence of the great spirits of Saint-Germain-des-Prés – Artaud, Ernst, Calder – in intimate portraits testifying to an era. The exhibition highlights her unique approach: a total collaboration with the artists, where spontaneity and openness were essential to her photographic process. Trained in photography by the renowned photojournalist Lucien Maynard, Colomb developed a recognizable style characterized by a particular sensitivity to human expressions and places steeped in history. The exhibition presents an inédite (new) selection of her portraits, ranging from working scenes to moments of relaxation, thus revealing the singular universe of these iconic figures of the 20th century. Organized in partnership with the Médiathèque du Patrimoine Photographique, this exhibition offers a privileged look at the work of an exceptional photographer, long unknown. It is accessible to the public for free and proposes a fascinating journey into the heart of Saint-Germain-des-Prés.
