Hygiene in the Middle Ages
Tour Jean sans Peur
- Dates
- 12 March 2025 – 28 December 2025
- Price
- 6€

During the Middle Ages, the floors of noble houses were covered with fresh herbs and rose petals to perfume the air, far from the cliché of a dirty era. In the Tower Jean sans Peur, the last vestige of a Burgundy palace in the heart of Paris 2nd arrondissement, six living themes – from running water to ingenious latrines – reveal refined rituals of personal hygiene, baths, and waste management. Illuminations, period objects, and surprising anecdotes, such as Parisian streets named ‘Sale’ or ‘Merderon’, show a daily life concerned with health and aesthetics. Exceptional for its intimate view of medieval life, with free play routes for children. Open Mon, Fri, Sat, Sun 13:30-18:00 (groups by reservation on other days). Until December 28, 2025. Info: 01 40 26 20 28.
