For centuries, the Sainte-Geneviève Library has built its immense knowledge thanks to the complicity of its users. This presentation sheds light on the crucial role of readers and patrons in the creation of a unique encyclopedic heritage. Through a selection of one hundred precious volumes and archives, the hall of this monument tells the story of these generous transmissions. Far from being a simple accumulation, these fonds testify to the commitment of passionate individuals who shaped the soul of the place over time. We observe how each donation allowed for the expansion of knowledge, transforming the institution into a true sanctuary of universal culture. It is a singular opportunity to see behind the scenes and understand how the public's attachment brings the collections to life. This historical journey will be held opposite the Panthéon from September 18 to December 15, 2026.
