For over a century, the Marguerite Durand Library has preserved the memory of struggles for equality. From May 26th to July 11th, 2026, the institution highlights a crucial yet largely unknown aspect of its collection: the activism of Afro-descendant women. Through a rigorous selection of original documents, leaflets, and photographs, the exhibition traces the evolution of movements that have successfully linked the issue of gender with that of identity. This historical perspective pays tribute to visionary campaigners whose writings redefined the contours of the struggle for emancipation. By valorizing these archives often made invisible, this event offers a deep understanding of the roots of intersectionality. A rare opportunity to confront the power of these engaged voices which continue to influence contemporary social thought at the heart of a place dedicated to the history of women.
