Ibrahim Mahama. The Harvest Time - Fondation Cartier pour l'art contemporain
In October 2026, the Fondation Cartier pour l’art contemporain offers a previously unseen perspective on colonial legacies through the work of Ibrahim Mahama. The exhibition “Le Temps des récoltes” (The Time of Harvests) brings together the Ghanaian artist and nine collaborators – Dorothy Akpene Amenuke, Gideon Appah, James Barnor, and others – in a collective exploration of the links between commerce, memory, and materials. The exhibition relies on poignant installations incorporating tarpaulins, recovered objects, and archives, thus evoking the trajectories of colonialism and the persistent consequences of exploitation. This ambitious collaboration, including CATPC and Postbox Ghana, invites a deep reflection on the relationship between art, history, and contemporary society. The exhibition is a dialogue between cultures and perspectives, offering an immersive and stimulating experience. Prepare to be confronted by the vestiges of a complex past and the questions it raises.
