Ogresses in Pieces

The Institut des Cultures d'Islam invites legendary figures – often misunderstood – for a participatory creative experience. At the heart of this proposal, imagination blends with the concrete manipulation of cut-out shapes. Participants appropriate a repertoire of fragments to build hybrid creatures, thus giving new life to ancestral narratives. By assembling these silhouettes, we question the representation of the monstrous and the feminine in popular cultures. This process of deconstruction and reconstruction allows us to transform frightening myths into singular and personal works. The workshop encourages a tactile approach to art, far from the beaten path of passive contemplation. It’s a moment of sharing where the hand guides the mind towards an unprecedented visual narrative, making these folkloric entities more tangible than ever.
