Photo – Woman Mariachi Through History

Starting from the mid-20th century, courageous musicians have challenged the codes of a Mexican tradition long reserved for men. The Galerie l’Esprit d’Escalier highlights these visionary conductors who led the first exclusively female mariachi ensembles. Through a selection of rare archival photographs and dazzling traditional costumes, the exhibition traces their conquest of international stages. This event, organized as part of the Femme Mariachi Europe 2026 Festival, testifies to the determination of these artists to transform a global cultural heritage. From September 15th to 27th, 2026, this retrospective pays tribute to those who wielded the violin and trumpet to shatter glass ceilings. A privileged opportunity to observe closely personal objects and historical documents documenting this unknown musical revolution.
