SHIN SUNG HY Coller - Couturer - Nouer - Musée Cernuschi - Musée des arts de l'Asie de la Ville de Paris
Shin Sung Hy has dedicated his life to dismantling traditional painting in order to give it an unprecedented relief. To coincide with the 140th anniversary of Franco-Korean diplomatic ties, the Cernuschi Museum is presenting around thirty creations by this master of material. Between 1948 and 2009, this singular artist transformed his supports by cutting them, sewing them, and knotting them with almost surgical precision. These three-dimensional works testify to a fascinating quest for texture, where the canvas becomes a volume in its own right. This monography will be on display from April 17th to August 2nd, 2026. It is an opportunity to see how threads and fabric scraps intertwine to form vibrant compositions within a prestigious setting dedicated to Asian arts.
