Simone Fattal has been shaping earth and history for over sixty years. Starting in autumn 2026, the Musée d’Art Moderne de Paris will dedicate a major retrospective to this essential figure of contemporary art, born in Damascus in 1942. Through her terracotta sculptures with archaic forms and her vibrant paintings, the Lebanese-American artist brings back to life vanished civilizations and dreamlike landscapes. Her works, which seem just recently unearthed from an archaeological dig, question the fragility of our cities and the persistence of memory against the passage of centuries. This extensive presentation allows us to grasp the raw poetry of a creator who brilliantly links mythological past with current ecological and human concerns. The meeting is scheduled from September 18, 2026 to January 24, 2027 to observe this fascinating dialogue between raw matter and historical narrative.
