In 1917, Ivan Aguéli, an artist and Sufi traveler, disappeared mysteriously. Today, the Swedish Institute presents an inédit (new) dialogue between his meditative work and that of Andreas Eriksson, a major figure in contemporary art. The exhibition “Sun and Moon” juxtaposes the earthy and vegetal tones of the two artists, exploring a relationship with the world through the perspective of a traveler and a contemplative artist. Eriksson, born in 1975, explores themes of solitude and nature, while Aguéli, who disappeared at the beginning of the 20th century, drew inspiration from Sufi traditions. This exhibition is a large-scale first presentation of Eriksson’s work in France. The exhibition is free to visit and offers a unique contemplative experience. A rare opportunity to see the works of two distinct but complementary artists, united by their sensitivity to beauty and mystery.
