For four decades, conflicts in the Middle East have left deep scars. American-Lebanese artist Walid Raad offers a poignant reflection on these realities through “Festival of (in)gratitude,” an immersive exhibition at CENTQUATRE-PARIS. This unprecedented presentation brings together a selection of recent works, ranging from photographs and collages to sculptures and videos, all exploring the consequences of wars on collective memory and identity. Raad invites the public on a contemplative journey between Beirut and Tunis, Ljubljana and the vestiges of these conflict zones. The exhibition is an invitation to question our relationship with time, history, and art in the face of contemporary traumas. With the support of Sylvie Winckler, this co-production by the Festival d’Automne à Paris highlights an internationally recognized artist known for his committed work and meditative installations. A powerful and profoundly human artistic experience.
