Brion Gysin, The Last Museum - Musée d'Art Moderne de Paris
In 2026, the Musée d’Art Moderne de Paris offers a unique opportunity to examine the work of Brion Gysin, an iconic figure of the Beat Generation and inventor of the Dreamachine. The exhibition, consisting of over 140 works, plunges into the heart of his innovative approach, shaped by collaborations with William Burroughs and an unlimited exploration between painting, writing, and performance. Gysin revolutionized creation with his “cut-up” technique, deconstructing images and texts to reveal new meanings. This retrospective, the first dedicated to this artist in a Parisian museum, presents a unique collection, enriched by exceptional loans from public and private collections. It follows the electric trajectory of Gysin, a pioneer of countercultures of the 20th century, from surrealism to punk. The exhibition is accessible from April 10th to July 12th, 2026.
