The Square of the Circle

The circular format, a symbol of perfection since the Renaissance, is reclaiming its place at the Galerie Laurent Rigail. Between May 28th and June 20th, 2026, a selection of contemporary artists tackles the challenge of creating without any right angles. This gathering of works, called tondi, proposes a visual break with traditional frames, focusing on the balance of shapes and movement. Each piece presented plays with the limits of the circumference, offering a new perspective on spatial composition. This collective exhibition highlights the technical virtuosity needed to master such a support. It’s a singular artistic event that proves that roundness remains an inexhaustible field of experimentation for contemporary creation.
