Under the asphalt of the capital, two thousand years of history sleep – from Gallo-Roman arenas to medieval enclosures. In resonance with European Archaeology Day, Place de la Bastille sheds light on the daily lives of those who unearth this buried heritage. These specialists of the City of Paris open the doors to their world, between excavation sites and laboratory analyses. The route illustrates how a simple fragment of ceramics or a forgotten foundation allows us to patiently reconstruct the puzzle of Parisian history. It’s a rare opportunity to observe the scientific rigor needed to save the memory of the earth before urban projects cover it up. This visual testimony on the professions of heritage is accessible to all, from June 1st to June 20th, 2026.
