Photography in Letters

Since its origins, the image has maintained a secret dialogue with writing. This summer, the Maison Européenne de la Photographie sheds light on this fascinating union through a selection of works where words sculpt the visual narrative. From July 2nd to August 29th, 2026, passionate speakers accompany visitors for a sensitive reading of the prints. Far from academic pathways, these moments of exchange prioritize feeling and a fine analysis of artistic biases. We observe how a phrase, a letter, or a diary transforms our perception of a photograph radically. It’s a rare opportunity to capture the poetry that emanates from the marriage between the graphic sign and the analogue. These small group encounters allow us to lift the veil on the hidden intentions of artists who make their images speak in a different way.
