Splendors of the Baroque. From Greco to Velázquez - Musée Jacquemart-André
In March 2026, the Musée Jacquemart-André will host a spectacular exhibition: “Splendors of the Baroque.” For the first time in France, a collection of forty works by Spanish masters from the Hispanic Society of America – Velázquez, Greco, Zurbarán – will be exhibited. This initiative, the result of a partnership between New York and Paris, allows viewers to contemplate masterpieces of the Golden Age, including paintings such as Greco’s Pietà. The exhibition highlights the intimacy and sensitivity of Spanish Baroque painting, particularly through the intense gaze of human figures. The Hispanic Society of America, rich of more than 750,000 pieces, thus exhibits an exceptional heritage. Under the direction of Guillaume Kientz and Pierre Curie, this exhibition offers an unprecedented dialogue between the museum’s permanent collections and the Spanish works. Visitors will be able to admire rarely seen works to the public.
