The Plantation Plot

For centuries, intensive monoculture has not only modified landscapes; it has fundamentally reshaped the organization of our societies. This unprecedented collaboration between KADIST and the ILHAM gallery in Kuala Lumpur sheds light on the invisible roots of the plantation model within our modern economy. Through a selection of contemporary works, the exhibition questions how this system of exploitation has shaped global power dynamics, from the colonial era to current ecological concerns. By challenging conventional perspectives, the event proposes a necessary reflection on the political and social legacies that still structure our daily lives. This second edition brings together international artists whose work dialogues to reveal the power mechanisms linked to land. The event will take place at KADIST from April 18th to July 11th, 2026.
