In 1942, more than 16,000 people, primarily French Jews, were taken from their homes to be interned at Drancy. This site, formerly an internment camp, is today a poignant and essential Memorial to the Holocaust. Free guided tours, led by professionals, take you through the permanent exhibition tracing the history of this site, once a hub for deportation. You will explore the remnants of the camp and discover the testimonies that tell of the horror of family separation and the tragedy of the end. Audio guides in French and English facilitate access to this history. Public transport (RER E, tramway T1, bus) easily takes you there. This memorial site, located opposite the Cité de la Muette, offers an educational and moving experience, essential for understanding the consequences of antisemitism. Educational activities are also offered, particularly for students.
