FANNIE GIGUÈRE – THE MACHINES OF DESIRES

In February 2026, artist Fannie Giguère will transform the Saint-Roch neighborhood of Quebec into a poetic and interactive playground with “Les Engins à Souhaits” (The Wishing Machines). These mechanical sculptures, animated by light impulses, invite passersby to engage in an ancestral ritual: formulating wishes through playful and astonishing mechanisms. From blowing on candles to finger movements, and observing the face of the clock, each action triggers a light animation, creating a dialogue between past and present. The artwork, made with LED strips, evokes childhood and the magic of the moment, offering a unique sensory experience accessible to all. This installation, funded by the City of Quebec and the Quebec government, is part of an artistic approach that celebrates human connection and the beauty of everyday objects. The exhibition is free and open from February 26 to May 17, 2026.
